For male hickey:

• Aged at least 4-8 months
• Long body shape
• The fin is long and the color is attractive
• His movements are aggressive and agile

For female hickey:

• Aged at least 3-4 months
• Rounded body shape, slightly distended abdomen
• The fins are short and the color is dull not attractive
• The movement is slow

Betta Fish Spawning Process

The process of spawning betta fish is done in the following stages :

• Spawning begins with preparing containers and water, then input the Ketapang leaves. Let the leaves float, the aim is to place the foam and place the fish eggs.
• After that, enter the male Betta Fish, the time for inserting the male parent into the spawning container should be in the morning, because the water temperature is still cold. Let the male parent for 1 day use for the male parent to know his environment.
• The next day, insert the female parent jar into a spawning container whose purpose is to get to know each other first and to insert the female parent jar also preferably in the morning and leave it for 1 day. This is useful to see if the male parent is really ready to spawn.
• If the male parent is indeed ready to spawn, then tomorrow you will see the foam that has been made by the male parent. The more foam that is made to show that the male parent is ready, then you release the female parent into the container.
• The release of female parent should be in the morning, if both parents are ready and good, then the next day or no later than 2 days after spawning we will find foam made by the male parent already containing fish eggs.
• If the eggs of Betta Fish have seen a lot, the mother of the female Hickey should be removed immediately so that she does not eat the eggs. While the male Hickey let it incubate and maintain its eggs.
• After the fish eggs are seen, then within 24 hours the eggs will hatch into seedlings or puppies of Betta Fish.
